One speaker, as if displaying forsight of modern day star tabloids, proclaimed "Divorce was a necessary part of every Hollywood actress's equipment..." Around the same time the Society addressed the issue of the then novel 'talking' movies with the motion "This House believes that movies should be seen and not heard."
