The 2008/09 Cambridge Union Schools' competition involved more than 1,500 students from all corners of the UK, making it the largest and most prestigious competition in its kind.

Everything related to your involvement in our competition will be coordinated centrally by us, minimizing your workload. We send our own experienced judges to adjudicate rounds, who include some of the very best university debaters in the world, who have judged and competed at the very highest level. These judges always provide extensive feedback to all speakers to help them improve and, for the first time this year, will be providing written feedback to all participants, meaning everyone has something to take away from the experience.

Uniquely, we'll only ever schedule a round on a date that suits you - we ask for your availability and set rounds accordingly, meaning it never has to clash with a parents evening or school trip. Moreover, our sophisticated round allocation system means you never have to travel far to take part, with first rounds taking place with a handful of local schools in your immediate area.

Finally, there is the opportunity to take part in our 64 team Finals Day, held in February in the historic Cambridge Union. With the option to stay overnight to take part in our social event the night before, and a number of high profile speakers presenting on the day, including the Schools Minister, we believe this will be an experience which will provide memories which last forever.
