Scotland & IrelandThis year, we are introducing a new format for Scotland and Ireland, which we believe will significantly improve your experience of the competition. We are committed to ensuring all schools, regardless of their location, get the opportunity to receive high quality judging. To enable us to do this and send a large number of Cambridge students to judge, rounds in Scotland and Ireland will operate on a different basis to those in England and Wales. Instead of two preliminary evening rounds, we will be holding larger national events, from which the top teams will be selected to go through to our Finals Day in February. These full day rounds promise to be exciting and enjoyable for all involved, with all teams guaranteed at least three debates. Our two national convenors are currently working hard to confirm the details of these rounds, and will shortly be publishing the dates and venues. Provisionally, Scottish rounds will take place in Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow, with Irish rounds taking place in Dublin and Cork. On September 1st 2009, entries for the rounds in Scotland and Ireland will open. Schools will be free to enter whichever round suits them best, with places allocated on a first come first served basis. Should you wish to register preliminary interest and ensure you're the first to hear about the rounds when they're confirmed, please email our national convenors, stating your name and school: |
