Rt Hon Lord Michael Howard
Lord Michael Howard was Leader of the Opposition and the Conservative Party from 2003 to 2005. Elected MP for Folkestone and Hythe in 1983, Lord Howard went on to become the Employment Secretary and the Environment Secretary before leading the Home Office from 1993 to 1997, During this time, his though 'prison works' approach saw a significant fall in crime rates. Upon entering opposition, he was appointed Shadow Foreign Secretary and Shadow Chancellor of Exchequer. Lord Howard was president of the Cambridge Union in Easter 1962 and was elevated to the House of Lords in July after retiring as an MP earlier this year.
